Overlay on your stream (OBS)
Alpha (as of October 2026). Subject to change without notice.
You can show your ESKEES work on top of your stream with an OBS “Browser” source. The background is transparent, so only your characters and effects appear over your camera or gameplay.
It can also react to Twitch chat, Bits, subs and raids (see 4. React to chat). YouTube chat goes through a relay on your PC (see React to YouTube chat).
1. Prepare your work
Make the work without a background. Anything you place on the canvas as a background image won't be transparent.
- Using the same aspect ratio as your stream (16:9, e.g. 1920 × 1080) makes positioning easy.
- Place characters near the edges and effects across the whole screen.
2. Use a file (recommended)
- In ESKEES Studio, choose Export ▾ → Export for OBS (transparent HTML) and save
name-obs.html. - In OBS, click “+” under Sources and choose Browser.
- Tick Local file and choose the HTML you saved.
- Set Width and Height to your stream size (e.g. 1920 and 1080).
- To handle the work's audio in OBS, tick Control audio via OBS; it appears in the audio mixer.
The work is embedded in the HTML, so that one file is all you need while you're online (the engine loads from the ESKEES Player CDN).
3. Use a URL
If your work is already uploaded, put this in the Browser source URL:
https://showcase.eskees.com/overlay?src=(URL of your work)
srcis the URL of a.eskx/.emg. File URLs fromeskees shareand the official samples work as is. Files on your own server need CORS enabled.&fit=contain(fit inside; default) /cover(fill and crop) /stretchchooses how to match when the aspect ratios differ.- Save data isn't kept (each stream starts fresh).
- If the work can't be opened, the reason appears in a red bar at the bottom left.
To try it: https://showcase.eskees.com/overlay?src=https://showcase.eskees.com/official/starter.eskx (an official sample; this one has a background).
4. React to chat (Twitch)
ESKEES connects to Twitch chat without logging in (read-only; it never posts).
- In ESKEES Studio, open the Reactions tab in the bottom panel, press + Reaction, and choose a trigger (chat, gift (Bits), member (sub), raid) and what to play (animation, particles, sound, text…).
- Text can include
{user},{text}and{amount}. Example:Thanks, {user}! - Try sends a dummy event without connecting, so you can check the reaction in the test play.
- Enter your channel name (after
twitch.tv/) in the Twitch field and press Connect and try to react to real chat in the test play. - Export for OBS then produces HTML that connects to that channel.
- With a URL, add
&twitch=channel. Example:https://showcase.eskees.com/overlay?src=(URL of your work)&twitch=mychannel - For exported HTML, adding
?twitch=channelto the file URL overrides the saved channel. - One Bit counts as 1 yen for amount conditions (a rough guide).
- Channel points only arrive for rewards that ask for text, and carry the reward ID rather than its name. Follows don't arrive.
- If the connection fails, a red bar appears at the bottom left and it reconnects automatically.
- In scripts, use
on live chat/on live giftwithlive.user,live.textandlive.amount. - Make confetti, sparkles and hearts in the Particles tab, and animated text that shows the comment in the Text motion tab (JIZURA), then pick them in a reaction.
Notes
- Mouse and keyboard input don't reach the work in an OBS Browser source (it's for display).
- If things are misplaced, check that the source's Width/Height match OBS Settings → Video → Base (Canvas) Resolution.
- If it isn't transparent, check that the work's canvas has no background image or colour placed on it.
